The Twelve We Answer Most Weeks

Collected from phone calls and emails over several seasons. If yours is not here, the studio inbox is genuinely read by a person.

No, and the assumption works backwards. A player who strikes the ball in the same place every time can adapt to almost any club. Someone whose contact wanders is the person who benefits most from a lie angle that matches their delivery and a length that lets them stand comfortably. What we will not do is promise that equipment fixes a swing that changes shape shot to shot; in that case we say so and suggest you spend the money on lessons first.

From December through April, expect roughly two weeks. May through November it is usually a few days, sometimes same week. We cap the calendar at five appointments a day so that nobody gets rushed, which is the reason the peak season wait exists at all. If you are visiting on a short trip, say so in the booking notes and we will look at the slots we hold back for that.

Yes. Bench labour rates apply and we will gauge the components before starting so there are no surprises. The one thing we will not do is guarantee performance on parts we did not select, and if a head arrives two degrees off its stamped loft we will tell you before we build with it rather than after.

It does not leave the shop. Final gauging happens before anybody calls to say the clubs are ready, and a club outside the window goes back on the vise. If a specific component simply cannot be brought into spec, we replace it at our cost and tell you what happened. That has occurred perhaps a dozen times in seventeen seasons, almost always with an adapter sleeve.

For the measurements that matter most it is more accurate, not less. Wind, temperature and a moving lie all introduce noise into outdoor testing. What indoor work cannot give you is the visual feedback of watching ball flight, which is why we build in a thirty-day re-check after you have played real rounds with the clubs.

Two seasons of Southwest Florida golf is a lot of golf. Lie angles move over time, especially on forged heads, and grips degrade far faster in this humidity than manufacturer guidance assumes. A spec verification on the whole bag costs less than a single round at most local clubs and frequently finds something worth correcting.

We hold no volume agreements with any manufacturer, which means we have no quota to fill and no reason to steer you. It also means we pay a bit more for components and get demo stock later than shops that do sign those agreements. We think that is a fair trade and our clients seem to agree.

Five to nine days in season, three to five outside it. Most of that is component shipping rather than bench time. Epoxy cures overnight and we do not shorten that under any circumstances, because a rushed bond in this climate is a shaft that comes loose next year.

Constantly. Bending, regripping, re-shafting, swing weight matching and spec verification are all everyday jobs on clubs bought anywhere. There is no penalty rate and no pressure to replace anything.

Grips. Worn, wrong size, or installed with a twist. It is the cheapest variable in the entire bag and the one most likely to be quietly wrong. Second place is lie angle across an iron set that nobody has gauged since purchase.

Yes, with the same equipment and the same process. Demo stock for left-handed players is thinner across the whole industry, so we sometimes order a specific head in for a session. Mention it when booking and we will have it on the rack when you arrive.

None. You pay the session fee, you keep the build sheet, and what you do with it is your business. Roughly one visit in six ends with an adjustment to clubs you already own and no purchase at all, which is a number we are comfortable with.
